Written by Ryan Calais Cameron (For Black Boys..) and directed by the Kiln Theatre's Artistic Director Amit Sharma, Retrograde is heading to London's Apollo Theatre from March 2025.
The compelling thriller delves into a pivotal moment in Sidney Poitier's life, as he stands on the brink of signing a Hollywood contract that could catapult him to stardom. But there's a dilemma: will he prioritise his career over his principles? In an era fraught with betrayals, will he betray others by naming names? And ultimately, will he sacrifice his integrity to secure his future?
Ivanno Jeremiah (Constellations, Donmar West End) will reprises the role of Hollywood icon Sidney Poitier. Joining him as his protagonist Mr Parks is Stanley Townsend (The Normal Heart, National Theatre) and Oliver Johnstone (Antigone, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) as writer Bobby.
Retrograde will play at the Apollo Theatre from 8 March - 14 June 2025.
