Dogstar in London
On a whaling ship called the Dogstar, crew members are dropping like flies. Icebound for months with no whales left to catch and supplies running low, there's mutiny in the air as the crew looks for something to blame. But strange things are happening, as the sailors begin collectively experiencing heavenly visions. Are these hallucinations a symptom of scurvy, a trick caused by the endless night, or a chance at salvation?
Haunting, eerie, and darkly comic, Dogstar is the latest play by Daisy Hall, writer of the sell-out hit Bellringers. It's directed by Lucy Morrison, who previously brought Personal Values, Akedah, and The Animal Kingdom to the Hampstead Theatre, where this funny, moving play will be staged in the intimate studio space of Hampstead Downstairs. Get ready for a surreal exploration of the forces that shape our lives, even at the edge of the world.
