Hot Mess: A New Musical in London

Witness the passionate love affair between the universe's most iconic couple: Planet Earth, desperately searching for the One after a billion years of bad dates, and Humanity, who promises to be her Prince Charming… or is he? Sparks fly, technology flourishes, and things get hotter, and hotter, until the perfect love story turns into the galaxy's biggest hot mess.

From Jack Godfrey and Ellie Coote, the creative duo behind 42 Balloons, comes a delightful new original pop musical about love, hope, and climate change. Following its world premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025 and subsequent London transfer to Southwark Playhouse last September, the show has won a Fringe First Award, the Popcorn Writing Award and Musical Theatre Review's Best Musical Award, alongside widespread critical acclaim. Praised as 'gloriously quirky' (The Stage) and 'high energy and high success' (WhatsOnStage), Hot Mess is a one-of-a-kind rom com with a climate message. It comes with a dazzling soundtrack that blends synth pop, rock, funk, and rap, absurdist humour packed with witty one-liners, and a unique concept that relies on the formidable talents of two brilliant actors.

Book now and be prepared to be charmed, delighted, and entertained by this brand-new romantic musical about the universe's worst break-up.

Well worth it

Great idea, great performances. Could've gone very woke and right-on but even towards the end when it was getting into the climate politics, it mostly kept it light and ended in warmth and smiles.
