Maiden Voyage in London
1987: galley cook Tracy has just bought a run-down yacht and dreams of skippering the first all-female sailing crew in an ocean race around the world. So she and her spirited crew set off on the Whitbread Round the World Race, battling elements as well as societal barriers, their own doubts as well as the insurmountable odds facing them. With book and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein (Little Women, Benny & Joon), music by Carmel Dean (Renascense, Well-Behaved Women) and starring Chelsea Halfpenny (Waitress, Emmerdale, Casualty), this groundbreaking play is based on the powerful true story of British sailor Tracy Edwards and her faithful yacht, the Maiden. Tracy's story has been told film, documentary, and now finally, as a musical. Epic storytelling, inspited casting, and a joyful score all come together to tell the inspiring story of one woman’s determination and her crew’s bravery as they take on the sea.
