Medea in London

What could turn a woman from a lover into a destroyer of love?

Medea tells the story of a woman laid bare by grief and rage, and her terrible quest for revenge against the men who have abandoned her.

Sophie Okonedo brings her visceral, mercurial brilliance to literature’s most titanic female protagonist, whose complexity and contradictions have kept audiences on the edge of their seats, unable to look away, for almost 2,500 years.

Excellent show

Really enjoyed my first visit to the Soho theatre. Great little theatre. I would definitely recommend. We had balcony seats but really you would have a fabulous view from wherever you sat. The show itself was gripping from start to finish. The intensity of the performance was amazing.

Great show, great venue

The two lead actors gave stunning performances, ably supported by the rest of the cast. Ben Daniels playing all the male characters worked superbly. A very intense play which I found very thought provoking on many levels, about many issues still relevant today.

Immersive experience

The acting of both Sophie and Ben was sheer brilliance. The way in which both portrayed their emotions was very moving. Sophie in particular literally morphed into the character of Medea. The show itself was very different from what I imagined it would be. In that Ben played all of the male characters throughout. He did a good job, but my only criticism is I would have liked to have had different actors in the different scenes, just to break it up a bit. I also liked that it was an immersive experience, with actors sitting amongst the audience. Very pleasant surprise, which made me feel part of the story. The two child actors were also very cute and so composed throughout their scenes.
