Set in Messina, Italy, the action follows two couples who fall in love when some soldiers arrive in town. Claudio and Hero's love is almost destroyed thanks to false accusations by the villainous Don John, who spreads the false gossip that she's been unfaithful. Claudio's friend Benedick and Hero's cousin Beatrice suffer an equally rocky ride on the road to true love.
