About the Duke of York’s Theatre

The Duke of York’s Theatre was built for Frank Wyatt's wife, Violet Melnotte. Lucky Violet! She owned it until her death in 1935. The National Treasures Sir Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, Michael Gambon, and Jeremy Irons, plus many more glittering stars, have graced its stage. Past shows at the Duke of York’s Theatre include The Girl on the Train, Touching the Void, Blithe Spirit, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane.
