It has been confirmed that A STRANGE LOOP is coming to London this summer!
After its huge success on Broadway, the musical will open at the Barbican Theatre between 17 June - 9 September 2023.
Written by Michael R Jackson, this Pulitzer Prize winning show explores themes of identity, self-worth and the creative writing process.
A Strange Loop tells the story of Usher, a black queer writer who is struggling to break into their dream industry. Seeking validation for their work, Usher starts to write a musical about a black queer writer seeking validation, and reimagines his own life story in the process.
Featuring a score that mashes up multiple genres, you can expect to hear a range of numbers which blend gospel, R&B and musical theatre.
Directed by Stephen Brackett, other creatives announced for this highly anticipated transfer production include:
- Choreography by Raja Feather Kelly
- Music supervision by Rona Siddiqui
- Orchestrations by Charlie Rosen
- Scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado
- Costume design by Montana Levi Blanco
- Lighting by Jen Schriever
- Sound by Drew Levy
A Strange Loop will open at the Barbican Theatre from 17 June, and tickets go on sale on 20 March.
