Photos: Allegiance in rehearsals

Allegiance - Charing Cross Theatre It's time to take a sneak peak inside rehearsals for George Takei's Allegiance.

Opening at the Charing Cross Theatre on 7 January 2023, the show marks the West End debuts of George Takei, Telly Leung and Aynrand Ferrer.

Allegiance is based on George Takei's own childhood experiences in a WW2 concentration camp in America.

Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Takei and his family were placed in an American internment camp, along with 120,000 other Japanese Americans. Inspired by his childhood memories at Camp Rohwer and Camp Tule Lake in northern California, Takei has created a musical about love, forgiveness and heroism.

The show has already celebrated success on Broadway in 2015, when Tony Award winner Lea Salonga and Telly Leung took on the lead roles. Now it's coming to the UK in a production that's been specifically created for the Charing Cross Theatre.

Telly Leung (Glee, Aladdin on Broadway) will be reprising his Broadway role and making his West End debut, alongside Aynrand Ferrer (Miss Saigon in Vienna).

George Takei's Allegiance is choreographed by Tara Overfield Wilkinson (director, Little Shop of Horrors UK tour, associate director/choreographer of Come From Away UK). The production's book is by Marc Acito, Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione, with music and lyrics by Jay Kuo.
