David Fynn

Prior to taking on this iconic role, Fynn was best known for playing Dewey Finn in School of Rock in the West End. His other theatre credits include She Stoops to Conquer, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, A Comedy of Errors, and Much Ado About Nothing. He's also been in a number of film and television roles, including Alex in BBC One's Am I Being Unreasonable.

Fynn said, "I’m looking forward to bringing my own take to it while staying true to what makes the character so much fun. Plus, I do look good in stripes, and I am a little dead inside."

Alex Brightman originated the role of Beetlejuice on Broadway.

About Beetlejuice

The musical is based on Tim Burton's zany, kooky 1988 film: Married couple Barbara and Adam Maitland die tragically young, but that’s not going to stop them from haunting their old house - even when the Deetz family move in. Determined to get rid of the living intruders, the Maitlands hire the wickedly funny bio-exorcist Betelgeuse to help. But in a twist, they find themselves bonding with Lydia Deetz - a cynical, death-obsessed, Goth teenager. And Beetlejuice, who’s more dangerous than they anticipated, quickly becomes obsessed with the girl as well…

Beetlejuice quickly became a cult classic and transcended into a cultural phenomenon among fans of horror-comedy. It inspired an animated adaptation, a video game, and most recently a 2024 sequel called Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. With a gleefully irreverent book, head-spinning set design and a score that’s out of this world, critics have praised it as a ‘feast for the eyes and soul’ (Entertainment Weekly) and ‘screamingly good fun!’ (Variety).

The creative team

The West End production reunites the original Broadway creative team, with a book by Tony Award nominee Scott Brown (Castle Rock) and Tony and Emmy Award-nominee Anthony King (Broad City), an original score (Music and Lyrics) by Tony Award-nominee Eddie Perfect (King Kong), Choreography by Connor Gallagher (The Robber Bridegroom), and Music Supervision, Orchestrations and Incidental Music by Kris Kukul (Joan of Arc: Into the Fire). Tony Award winner Alex Timbers (Moulin Rouge! The Musical) directs.

Beetlejuice the Musical will play a strictly limited run at London's Prince Edward Theatre from Wednesday 20 May, 2026 to Saturday 17 April, 2027.
