Award-winning stage and screen actor and writer Catherine Tate will take on the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in the smash hit comedy in April, succeeding Mason Alexander Park.
Catherine Tate and Scott Karim.
The play by Cole Escola is a comedic spoof about the lives of Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln. Set in the days leading up to Lincoln's assassination, Oh, Mary! follows the suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln.
It's an 80-minute play that examines unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires. Peppered with a signature style of humour that critics have loved, this play showcases the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs. Lincoln. Oh, Mary! premiered off-Broadway in January 2024 and is still enjoying a Broadway run at the Lyceum Theatre.
Mason Alexander Park (Much Ado About Nothing) will play their final performance as Mary Todd Lincoln on 25 April, and Giles Terera’s final performance as Mary’s Husband will be on Saturday 14 March.
Taking over the role of Mary's Husband will be Scott Karim, who recently starred in the RSC's Wendy & Peter Pan as Smee at the Barbican.
Continuing in the West End production will be Kate O’Donnell (Big Girl's Blouse, Soho Theatre) as Mary’s Chaperone, Oliver Stockley (Cabaret, Kit Kat Club) as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, with Dino Fetscher (The Normal Heart, National Theatre) as Mary’s Teacher
Oh, Mary! also reveals it is extending its run at the Trafalgar Theatre and will now play until 18 July 2026.
