This off-beat, outrageous dark comedy reimagines the story of Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to the assassination of her husband - formerly US president Abraham Lincoln. In this tongue-in-cheek take on history, Mary is a foul-tempered alcoholic, stuck in an unhappy marriage with the deeply closeted Abe, desperate to relive her glory days as a cabaret dancer. This one-act, 80-minute play is packed with hilarious gags, alcohol-fuelled antics, and general mayhem as it takes an absurdist spin on an American First Lady as you've never imagined her before.

Dumber and DumbestI've rarely been to a live theatre performance that I wanted to flee from. This was one of the first. Nothing about this was funny or witty or clever. It's like a blunt instrument. The torture will continue until laughter ensues. I have no idea how this show obtained favorable reviews. Avoid unless you want some IQ points dissolved from your brain.

Misrepresented. Nothing to do with Abe Lincoln realty. Made him gay.The story turned President Abe Lincoln into a selfish gay guy only interested in getting rid of his free-spirited straight wife. The playwright should not have taken the Abe Lincoln angle. The story would have better suited any Joe Bloke character. I expected a comedy about Abe and Mary Lincoln. The dialogue was crude, raunchy, full of swearing. I felt sorry for the older people in the crowd who probably expected something completely different, as did I. Honesty, it wasn't even funny in my opinion, though younger audience members were laughing. I guess I prefer more sophisticated humour. In summary, the play had nothing to do with history or Abe and Mary Lincoln. Go only if you enjoy crass sexual humour and constant swearing.

Patchy & dated humourI was underwhelmed by the show. There were a few very funny moments, and I liked the ending. But a lot of the plot seemed quite dated - the boss chasing the secretary etc - and the humour I found patchy. The performances were fine, especially some of the physical comedy, if a bit OTT in places but were constrained by the script.

Quirky and hilarious.2nd time to c play and loved it so bought another friend. The first time Mason Alexander played Mary and while Lolly was brilliant MA had a sharper comic edge and his performance leapt out with force and high acerbic energy. He was incredible, a tour de force.

Fabulously RidiculousAn absurdly creative twist on history performed by an amazing cast who have clearly bonded. Even after their high energy performances, these sweet actors took the time for photos, autographs and quick chats at the Stage Door - making each fan feel special and appreciated in the moment. A disappointmentChose this show for the sole purpose of seeing Catherine Tate in it. But she had an injury and did not appear. Her substitute tried hard, but was age-inappropriate for the role and simply not that good. I traveled very far to see Catherine Tate, and was so disappointed. I wanted to get a refund, or exchange at least, but no deal.

Waste of time and money for an offensive, stupid showIf mocking alcoholism, sexual harassment, chronic depression, and homosexuality is good for you, then perhaps you might consider wasting your money on this tasteless, stupid shambles of a show. Laugh a minute, rollercoaster rideThe plot is fast-paced with lots of twists and turns. I would say it has a 15 rating, so not for young kids, as the story is quite racey with lots of hilarious gay references. The acting is excellent from a very talented cast. There is a good use of sounds and music throughout the production. Thoroughly enjoyable!!

If you like a farce it’s farcical. A packed theatre and half a dozen people laughed like it was the funniest thing they had ever seen. The rest of us waited 35 mins for a funny gag. The last 20 mins was very good musically and plot wise but the first hour was poor. Not funny but it thought it was.

Worst show I have ever seen.It relies on worn out stereotypes of women, mental illness, and LGBQ+ people. It ridicules them. Setting it in the White House and using Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln as characters, is a cheap trick and offense. The disclaimers do not mitigate the offense.
