Cast announced for Deep Azure at Shakespeare's Globe

The play, written by late Academy Award-nominated actor and writer Chadwick Boseman and directed by award-winning theatre maker Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu (For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy) will play in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse early next year.

The cast will comprise Ryn Alleyne (The Leftbehinds, National Theatre) as Ensemble/Cover, Maxwell Chartey as Ensemble/Cover, Elijah Cook (Jesus Christ Superstar) as Tone, Jayden Elijah (Saint X, Disney+/Hulu) as Deep, Aminita Francis (Red Riding Hood, Liverpool Everyman) as SK Good, Selina Jones (Provenance, All Points East) as Azure, Justice Ritchie (Born with Teeth, Wyndham's Theatre) as Roshad, and Imani Yahshua (Urine Town, The Vaults Theatre) as SK Evil.
Deep Azure is billed as a powerful story of love, grief, and justice. Inspired by the true events of university student Prince Jones, influenced by the poetry of Shakespeare and powered by the pulse of Hip-Hop theatre, it charts what happens when Azure's world is spiralled out of control by the death of her fiancé, Deep, who is killed by the police.
The creative team includes Associate Director Marley-Rose Liburd, Hanna Dimtsu as the Associate Movement Director, Candlelight Designer Azusa Ono, with Conrad Murray and John Pfumojena as Co-Composers, Paul Wills as Designer, Aundrea Fudge as Dialect, Somebody Jones as Dramaturg and Cultural Consultant, Sam Lyon-Behan as
Fight Director, Raniah Al-Sayed as Intimacy Director, Tanaka Bingwa as Movement Director, with Voice by John Pfumojena.
Deep Azure plays at Sam Wanamaker Playhouse from 7 February - 11 April 2026.
