Directed by Racky Plews (Footloose), with a book by Nia T. Hill and choreography by Jade Hackett, I’m Every Woman is the story of Chaka Khan’s incredible life: from her time as a member of the Black Panthers fighting for civil rights, to her struggles with addiction and the challenges of being a black woman in the music industry - and of course, her rise to global stardom as she went from being the lead singer of funk bank Rufus to launching her solo career. It features Chaka Khan’s much-loved songs released as a solo artist and lead singer of Rufus, such as I Feel For You, Tell Me Something Good, Ain’t Nobody, Sweet Thing, Higher Love and Through the Fire.
The musical made its premiere earlier this year with performances at Hackney Empire, Belgrade Theatre, Coventry and the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne. It stars multi-platinum recording artist and award-winning actress Alexandra Burke (The X Factor, Sister Act, The Bodyguard, Curfew) as Chaka Khan, with further casting for this production to be announced in due course.
I'm Every Woman - The Chaka Khan Musical will play at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre from 22 July to 27 September 2026, with a press night on 4 August.
