What is I'm Every Woman about?

Directed by Racky Plews (Footloose), with a book by Nia T. Hill and choreography by Jade Hackett, I'm Every Woman is the story of Chaka Khan's incredible life: from her time as a member of the Black Panthers fighting for civil rights, to her struggles with addiction and the challenges of being a black woman in the music industry - and of course, her rise to global stardom as she went from being the lead singer of funk bank Rufus to launching her solo career.

Packed with soul, spirit, and spunk, I'm Every Woman will be transferring to the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre this summer. It stars multi-platinum recording artist and award-winning actress Alexandra Burke (The X Factor, Sister Act) as Chaka Khan. This stunning musical celebrates the five-decade-spanning career of the Queen of Funk and her undisputed impact on music. Chaka, who helped develop the musical, said, 'I've lived a rich, beautiful, and sometimes difficult life, and now those experiences will come alive on stage'. She added, 'I can't wait to share this moment with the fans who have sung, danced, and stood by me through it all'.

Amazing music

The show was amazing, Alexander Burke is ideally cast to play Chaka Khan. The story line was a bit lacking / disjointed in places, it wasn't as good as the Tina Turner.

Fantastic!

It was easy to get to, parking was a few minutes walk and cheap. Seating was comfortable, plenty of toilets. Drinks were expensive £34 a bottle of wine. The performance was incredible, all singers were absolutely amazing. It was a nice bonus to see Alexandra Burke.

I had an absolutely wonderful time I really enjoyed “I’m every woman.’ My only criticism is you have to be able to manage stairs in order to enter the auditorium and to get to your seats. I am able bodied but had to be careful in getting to my seat whilst holding onto drinks and popcorn…

A must see !!!

Loved the show, everyone had amazing voices, Alexander was outstanding ! Learnt a lot about Chaka and also got to find out How some of the songs linked to events in her life. It really is a must see. Not an empty seat in the house and I can see why. Such a shame that it is finishing so soon. I would actually love to see again with a different group of friends but sadly we can’t do the last few dates.

A Story of a Life Transformed

Very good show! Would have liked more audience participation (apart from clapping!) I was disappointed there was no dancing along to some of the songs.(Also, that Alexandra Burke wasn’t performing), but her Understudy was excellent! Venue slso needs to make sure their show doesn’t overrun) resulting in people leaving early (thus distracting the enjoyment of the show). Also, that timings are carefully considered when other events are also taking place at Wembley, (at the same time). The station queues, & train ride home spoilt the experience.

I was disappointed with this show I know a lot of bio’s see the story and then it gets going but for me it never did, it started late which meant we had to leave just when the upbeat nos would start, we had a long journey home plus completing with the 80 thousand that had been at Wembley stadium

Enjoyed!

I didn’t know the story of Chaka Khan but really enjoyed learning through the show :) There was a medical issue with a person on production team, so had a delayed start to the show & some scenery/lighting was missing, but we still thoroughly enjoyed the show:) The singing from everyone was excellent. BE AWARE that seats C5 & C6 look like they’re by an aisle but there’s no exit that end! We were kindly allowed to move to seats DD46/47 which were by an aisle. View was very good, could see & hear everything...although as some people have already mentioned, the first few rows are not raked so if a tall person’s in front, view may be obscured. D46 has a clear view but D47 did had a slight issue, as had to move head to one side to get proper view.

How about don’t send emails to customers asking for their review when you cancel the show an hour before it starts. Then just offer a credit note!! How about our train fares ????

Fantastic venue

Great show great venue friendly helpful staff Big bar area where you can easily get a drink or snack, fast service so not queueing for long before show and during interval. Lots of choice of drinks available. Clean toilets, venue great for people with disabilities. The show was amazing great acting fantastic singing lighting and sound was amazing would highly recommend.
