I'm Every Woman the Musical in London
Starring:
Alexandra Burke
The creative team behind Thriller Live breathes life into another musical legend. If you enjoyed Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, you'll love I'm Every Woman: The Chaka Khan Musical, which tells the story of Chaka Khan's rise to fame in a turbulent musical industry, filled with beloved songs and cameos by other musical giants. It's a story of resilience, overcoming the odds, and above all, a love of music.
Why should you see I'm Every Woman?
- Fans of Chaka Khan and the funk genre will love this powerful celebration of the woman behind the diva, in a story Chaka herself has been a part of developing for the stage.
- Step inside the electric, unforgettable musical era of the 1970s, filled with musical icons like Joni Mitchell, Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Robert Palmer, all of whom feature in Chaka's story.
- I'm Every Woman features some of Chaka's most memorable songs like 'I Feel For You', 'Ain't Nobody', and 'Tell Me Something Good', which will stay with you long after you've left the theatre.
What is I'm Every Woman about?
Directed by Racky Plews (Footloose), with a book by Nia T. Hill and choreography by Jade Hackett, I'm Every Woman is the story of Chaka Khan's incredible life: from her time as a member of the Black Panthers fighting for civil rights, to her struggles with addiction and the challenges of being a black woman in the music industry - and of course, her rise to global stardom as she went from being the lead singer of funk bank Rufus to launching her solo career.
Packed with soul, spirit, and spunk, I'm Every Woman will be transferring to the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre this summer. It stars multi-platinum recording artist and award-winning actress Alexandra Burke (The X Factor, Sister Act) as Chaka Khan. This stunning musical celebrates the five-decade-spanning career of the Queen of Funk and her undisputed impact on music. Chaka, who helped develop the musical, said, 'I've lived a rich, beautiful, and sometimes difficult life, and now those experiences will come alive on stage'. She added, 'I can't wait to share this moment with the fans who have sung, danced, and stood by me through it all'.
So prepare to laugh, cry, and cheer along to the electric, colourful musical numbers in this joyful story of resilience, power, and hope.
