Initial casting announced for Tim Crouch's AN OAK TREE

Francesca Moody Productions has announced initial casting for An Oak Tree, the mind-bending theatrical experiment starring Tim Crouch and a different second actor at each performance, which will open at The Other Palace this autumn.

A father loses his daughter in a car accident. The man behind the wheel is a hypnotist. When the father attends one of his shows, he volunteers for the hypnotist's act and the two men come face to face for the first time, onstage in front of a crowd of onlookers. What follows is a unique live theatrical experience, and a poignant yet funny exploration of loss, suggestion, and the power of the mind.

In this groundbreaking piece of experimental theatre, Tim Crouch performs opposite a different co-star, each one seeing the script for the very first time live onstage. This rotating cast will include Hammed Animashaun (SNL UK, Sky; Dealers Choice, Donmar Warehouse) on 29 October, Bessie Carter (Bridgerton, Netflix; Mrs. Warren’s Profession; Garrick Theatre) on 16 October, Rosalie Craig (Riot Women, BBC; Good Night, Oscar, Barbican) on 9 October, Sacha Dhawan (Doctor Who, BBC, The Great, Hulu) on 23 October, George Fouracres (SNL UK, Sky; Hamlet, Shakespeare’s Globe) on 10 November, Clare Perkins (Romeo & Juliet; Harold Pinter; Player Kings, Noël Coward Theatre) on 13 October, Tom Mothersdale (A Doll’s House, Almedia; Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, BBC) on 14 October, and Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones, HBO; The Tower, ITV) on 15 October.

Tim Crouch's An Oak Tree first premiered in 2005 and has since been performed hundreds of times in over 19 countries, widely celebrated for its unique and fascinating premise. Over the past twenty years, over 350 talented performers have taken on this extraordinary theatrical challenge, creating a unique event every night.

This will be part of Francesca Moody's (the award-winning producer behind Fleabag and Baby Reindeer) new season at The Other Palace, which aims to celebrate original voices and push the boundaries of live theatre by bringing together three brilliant shows that began life at Edinburgh Fringe before captivating audiences worldwide. Alongside An Oak Tree, the season will include the award-winning razor-sharp dark comedy of Feeling Afraid As If Something Terrible is Going to Happen, and the international smash-hit Garry Starr: Classic Penguins.

An Oak Tree will play at The Other Palace from 7 October to 15 November, with a press night on 7 October.
