Noah Schnapp to make his stage debut in the world premiere of AFFLUENZA

Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp will make his stage debut in the world premiere of Andy Sandberg's Affluenza at Riverside Studios, London.

Inspired by true events surrounding a shocking legal defence, Affluenza explores the ripple effects of power and privilege. When a drunk teenager in the ultra-wealthy social haven of the Hamptons causes a devastating car accident, the ensuing legal fallout raises questions about cost and generational impact of privilege and opulence. This biting and darkly funny new play is written and directed by Andy Sandberg, who is serving as Season Artistic Director for the Mainstage at Riverside Studios.

Noah Schnapp is best known for playing Will Byers in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, which recently aired its fifth and final season. He is the fourth Stranger Things star to appear in the West End this year, alongside Sadie Sink in Romeo and Juliet, Gaten Matarazzo in RENT, and Linnea Berthelson in Darkling. Schnapp expressed his excitement about making his stage debut in London, hinting at a very exciting and unique performance: "Without giving away too much, I get to play two very different roles, and it’s a story that’s really going to leave audiences talking and thinking."

The Mainstage at Riverside Studios is a 400-seat theatre in West London. Mainstage Season 26/27 is launching with three world premieres of new, original plays running for limited eight-week engagements, each set in America and exploring globally relevant themes. Following Affluenza, Sacrilegious, by Tom Schulman, the Oscar-winning writer of the films Dead Poets Society and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, will run from 5 December 2026 to 23 January 2026 (press night 15 December), and Expecting, by Scott Elmegreen & Drew Fornarola, runs from 30 January to 27 March 2027 (press night 9 February). Both plays are directed by Sandberg, who also serves as Artistic Director for the Hermitage in the United States. Further productions and casting will be announced soon.

Affluenza will open the season, running from 26 September to 21 November 2026, with a press night on Monday 5 October.
