Hannah Doran's The Meat Kings! (Inc.) of Brooklyn Heights will make its world premiere at the Park Theatre this Autumn.
The play delves into the dark underbelly of America's anti-immigration policies and the brutal sacrifices that drive the pursuit of prosperity. It centres on T, a new summer hire at Cafarelli & Sons, an iconic New York butcher. The no-nonsense boss tries to keep everyone in line, but the business is struggling. With the American Dream of a better life hanging in the balance, JD and Billy are pitted against each other to secure their future. David and T are drawn into the shifting alliances and fractured loyalties. How far will they go to survive?
Directed by George Turvey, the play will star Jackie Clune (Just For One Day, The Old Vic) as Paula, Marcello Cruz (Rare Earth Metal, Royal Court Theatre) as JD, Ash Hunter (Grenfell, National Theatre) as Billy, Mithra Malek (Romeo + Juliet, Circle in the Square Theatre, New York) as T, and Eugene McCoy (Girl From the North Country, The Old Vic) as David.
The creative team includes designer Mona Camille, lighting designer Bethany Gupwell and music and sound designer Asaf Zohar.
The Meat Kings! (Inc.) of Brooklyn Heights plays at the Park Theatre from 30 October to 29 November.
