Playing at the Duke of York's Theatre for a limited time until February, Woman in Mind explores one woman’s fractured reality with heart and humour. When Susan, played by Sheridan Smith, sustains a bump to the head, her world splits in two—one mundane, one imagined—and the lines begin to blur. Ayckbourn’s groundbreaking play is a gripping exploration of identity, family, and mental escape.
Sheridan Smith has a fantastic career on both the stage and screen. She recently starred in the I Fought The Law, a ITV drama based on the story of Ann Ming, a woman who fought for 17 years to repeal the double jeopardy law after her daughter Julie was murdered in 1989. Her most recognisable West End credits include Opening Night at the Gielgud Theatre and Elle Woods in Legally Blonde at the Savoy Theatre.
Romesh Ranganathan makes his West End debut in Woman in Mind.
Louise Brealey (Harry Potter, HBO) joins them as Muriel, Tim McMullan (Antony and Cleopatra) as Gerald, Sule Rimi (Fat Ham, The RSC) as Andy, Chris Jenks (Anna Karenina, Sheffield Crucible) as Tony, Safia Oakley-Green (The Bluff, Amazon) as Lucy and Taylor Uttley (Leglock, Edinburgh Fringe) as Rick, and Katie Buchholz (If We Were Older, National Theatre) and Michael Woolfitt.
Completing the creative team alongside director Michael Longhurst are set and costume design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting design by Lee Curran, sound design by Paul Arditti and casting by Jim Carnahan CSA and Liz Fraser CSA.
It will play until 28 February 2026 at the Duke of York's Theatre.
