President Hotel Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to the President Hotel?

The President Hotel is at 56–60 Guilford Street, Russell Square, WC1N 1DB, in Bloomsbury. Russell Square on the Piccadilly line is the nearest station, a few minutes' walk; Holborn and King's Cross St Pancras are both workable alternatives. Look for the hotel entrance rather than a theatre frontage — the performance space is inside.

What time should I arrive at the President Hotel?

Thirty minutes before the start, and not much earlier — the doors do not open before that. Those thirty minutes are part of the evening rather than dead time: there is a pre-show reception area where you can settle in and order drinks to have with the performance.

Can I take photographs at the President Hotel?

Not during the show: photography and filming are strictly prohibited once it is under way. This is firmer than the usual theatre rule, and it is enforced — in a room where the performers work among the tables, a raised phone is in somebody's scene rather than merely distracting.

Is there a dress code at the President Hotel?

No. Dress as you feel comfortable, and dress up if you would rather — plenty do, and it suits the evening. One reassurance worth giving, because people ask: nothing is spilled or thrown over the audience during the performance, so you can wear what you like without worrying about it.

Does the President Hotel have a cloakroom, and is there a charge?

Yes, and here it is close to compulsory: backpacks, luggage and holdalls are not allowed into the performance space at all and must go into the cloakroom, for a fee. Anything you do keep with you has to fit under your table. Pack light and the evening is easier.
