Remembrance Monday in London

The brilliant Remembrance Monday enjoys an exclusive World Premiere at Seven Dials Playhouse, written by the critically acclaimed playwright Michael Batten (Self Tape) and directed by Alan Souza (Beauty and the Beast, Oliver!).

Julius and Connor are the perfect husbands, the men with everything. They have a fabulous flat, amazing careers and beautiful bodies. The only thing they’re missing is the signature dog. But when Julius experiences flickering moments and distorted memories from a particular Monday night reality begins to bend, revealing terrifying truths to both men.

How reliable is memory?

Themes of memory and shared memories are woven throughout the plot, examining the way a couple’s views of the exact same event can be dramatically different. And how one moment, when viewed again and again and again, can so easily morph. Ultimately we’re left wondering whether we really are made up of every memory we make.

Michael Batten is an actor, dancer and playwright whose self penned one man play Self Tape - in which he starred - won an OFFIE nomination for Best Solo Performance. His other plays include Tickety Boo and Finding Mum.

Excellent theatrical credentials

The play, which is staged in a bathroom, is presented by M. Green Productions in association with Seven Dials Playhouse (Jefferey Bernard is Unwell, Foxes, Death Drop). It stars Nick Hayes as Julius (Groundhog Day, Legally Blonde, Hollyoaks) and Matthew Stathers as Connor (Hi-Lo Joe, The Bodyguard, Coronation Street) in a limited six-week run described as ‘thrilling’. Expect strobe lighting, haze, partial nudity and an unforgettable plot.

Nick Hayes' theatre credits include Mitchell in The Little Dog Laughed (Irish premiere, Dublin), Adam/Felicia in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (UK Tour), Ren in Footloose (West End), and Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever (West End). He has also wowed on TV and in the movies, as Julian Abbington in The Space You Need, Orson Buxton in Hollyoaks: In The City, Tom Portman in Doctors and in the multi-award winning short film The Definition of Lonely (Best Actor Kino Shorts).

Matthew Stathers played the Stalker in The Bodyguard (West End and UK Tour). His TV credits include Hullraisers on Channel 4, Meet The Richardsons on UKTV and Harlots 3 (Hulu), along with Doctors and Holby City (BBC), and the role of Nigel Steadman in Coronation Street. He’s appeared in Rhinestone Cowboys, Sink or Swim-Coming Up and Threesome. His movie roles include Joe Ridley in Hi-Lo Joe, Dan in Young, High & Dead and Hot Lips in Knuckledust.

Playwright Michael Batten is joined by Director Alan Souza, Set Designer Andrew Exeter, Lighting Designer Jack Weir, Sound Designer Sarah Weltman and Movement Director Dianté Lodge as the creative team, and Casting comes from Pearson Casting CDG.
