Rock of Ages in London

Rock your socks off to 1980s classics with Rock of Ages

Big bands. Big hair. Big tunes. It’s an evening of purest high drama set in the 1980s when taste was downright bad and shoulder pads ruled the world. Welcome to a fantastically popular West End show that blends sheer entertainment with karaoke classics and cheeky comedy, a laugh a minute and perfect for singing along!

Rock of Ages – The story

It’s 1987. The scene is Hollywood’s famous Sunset Strip, where amateur rock star wannabe and big hair fanatic Drew and struggling actress Sherrie are on the brink of a love affair. But things are about to become… rocky! They both work at the Bourbon Room, which is about to be demolished. But the owner, Dennis Dupree, soon hatches a cunning plan to resurrect the venue’s fortunes with the help of rock star Stacee Jaxx. Will Drew and Sherrie ever admit their love? Can the venue be saved? Do rock dreams ever really come true?

A rollercoaster of a rock-based show!

This is a musical with a real heart and you’ll be singing in the aisles well before the first curtain goes up. It’s packed solid with rock hits including Don’t Stop Believin’, We Built This City (on rock ‘n’ roll) and monster hit The Final Countdown.

If you remember the rock hits of the 1980s you’ll adore the nostalgia. If you’re new to ‘80s rock it’s an experience you’ll never forget, with its self deprecating humour and wonderful silliness. Better still, this show is all about audience participation. So dig out your 1980s glam or hit your nearest vintage clothing outlet for the time of your rockin’ life!

Rock of Ages song list

Act one sees the audience ricking along to Just Like Paradise/Nothin' but a Good Time, Sister Christian, Too Much Time on My Hands/We Built This City, I Wanna Rock, We're Not Gonna Take It and Heaven/More Than Words/To Be with You. You’ll have your air guitar at the ready for classics like Waiting for a Girl Like You, Wanted Dead or Alive, I Want to Know What Love Is, Cum On Feel the Noize, Harden My Heart/Shadows of the Night and Here I Go Again. And act two includes twelve more monster chart topping rock tunes from the decade that time never forgot!

Funny, fabulous brilliant!

Fabulous show ... the music was great and humour 'tongue in cheek'. We had a brilliant night and enjoyed everything about the show. Probably not suitable for anyone under 16 due to colourful language and sexual innuendos

Fantastic

We booked this show last minute to fill a wet evening. Rarely have I enjoyed a show or an evening more. We went to the Friday night show, and it contained a fair amount of bad language that would prevent me from taking my children, it's not out of place in the show, or gratuitous but would make an otherwise great show unsuitable for minors. I would recommend this show for any other audience.

Very funny show. The narrator was brilliant and an excellent singer, too. He didn't get enough singing to do. The whole show was fantastic and I'd go again. My only criticism is that I would have liked a few more numbers in the second half.

Talk about an audience feel good factor at the end when the cast (& audience) sing 'Don't Stop Believing' it left everyone on such a high :-D Go and see it - you'll LOVE it!!!

Choppy performances

The momentum of the show seemed off. Parts were rocking while it seemed sleepy in others. The dancers appeared bored with their parts and the couple just did not seem believably connected. The part of Sherry was played by someone that looked too old and Drew was a great singer but just not like Sherry should be his love interest. Costuming could have been wilder. The play is entertaining but just average where it could have been bolder.

Great show! Sat in the dress circle and paid for full view seats. I couldn't see any seats on the dress circle with restricted view. Brilliant show, hilarious!!

Good - customer service disappointing though

The show was amazing - I don't know why customer service staff allowed people in front row to place objects on the railing or lean over it, as a regular theatre goer that ruined my experience as it obstructed many people's views, including my girlfriend and I. I missed a lot of act 1 due to this and don't blame the show, I blame the management.

Rock of Ages

I wasn't really keen on seeing the show as I wasn't sure it was my cup of tea but having heard the music, which is up my street Andy wife wanting to go, I went and how glad I am I did. Until now My favorite show was Jersey Boys but this is equal to it. Very funny, well acted and great music, superbly played by the band. It was a Saturday matinee so the lead was played I think by a under study, Nathan Amzi? He stole the show for me as Lonny and was perfect in the role. Very funny indeed and the audience warmies to him straight away. The rest of the cast we equally good as were the band. Having not been too keen to see it in the first place, u have to say I'd be quite happy to see it again. Treat yourself to good music in a great show.

"Rock of Ages" is an excellent tribute to the music of the 80s, with all the best songs from the era. The narrator slightly improvs from time to time, giving the show a fresh feeling, with sometimes even the other actors not certain what he might do next. Hecklers beware, the narrator is prepared for you and will turn your comments into pure entertainment for others. Rock of Ages is a great evening out, and a must-see for any child of the 80s.
