The Royal Ballet presents two Company premieres by the critically acclaimed Spanish/British contemporary choreographic duo, Sol Leon and Paul Lightfoot, in a first-of-its-kind mixed programme. Leon and Lightfoot's fluid, weightless, and stirring choreography has been performed all around the world, with over 50 works created for the Nederlands Dans Theatre.
Shoot the Moon, now in its 20th anniversary, explores the solitude that lies in relationships, scored by Philip Glass's shifting tonal melodies within his Tirol Concerto. Salle de Danse, originally filmed by Lightfoot during the pandemic, is an homage to the balletic art form. In this recreated version, it plays out a dancer's daily study of ballet class, set to a freshly composed score by Ilya Demutsky. Whether or not you're familiar with Leon and Lightfoot's works, ballet lovers will fall in love with this programme of two very different but contemporary choreographed performances by two of the most talented minds in dance.
