The Sleeping Beauty in London

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, Princess Aurora lived in an enchanted castle where fairies bestowed her with gifts of beauty, temperament, purity, joy, wit and generosity. The wicked Fairy Carabosse put a curse on Aurora; to prick her finger and die on her 16th birthday.

The beautiful and kind Lilac Fairy cast a spell to counter the curse so that instead of dying Aurora fell asleep for a hundred years. Only the touch of true love’s kiss could awaken her and undo the evil spell...

Not as amazing as I expected it to be!

The ballet had some great choreography, music and costumes. However in terms of the story, i was very disappointed. Sleeping beauty was one of my favourite stories as a child, and especially the part where the prince and the princes meet for the first time. I was surprised that this part was completely cut out! I would have loved to see more dancing to the original music as it was in cartoon. I guess I was expecting to re-live that feeling I had when I watched the cartoon as a child, so for anyone hoping for that, you will be very disappointed. Also some of the solos were very repetitive! Most of the ballet dancers had 2 solos each, which when you are talking around 12-14 people, is a lot!!! While they all had great skills, I did feel like it was way to repetitive and couldn't wait for something new and amazing to happen... Furthermore, the red riding hood has no place in a sleeping beauty story. Sorry get your own story!

Everything was very pretty

I really enjoyed this production of Sleeping Beauty. The costumes and staging were extremely pretty. The whole performance was very pleasing on both the eye and the ear. I would recommend it to any age. I keep remembering the different acts and rejoining in my memories.
