This gorgeous live show is filled with fun, enchanting puppetry, and fabulous inter-planetary escapades. A not-to-be-missed treat for families, it weaves a tale of love and unity, a heartwarming story of two groups of aliens on a faraway planet—the Smeds, who are red, and the Smoos, who are blue. The two families are rivals, so when a young Smed falls in love with a young Smoo, they run away together. Will their families forget their rivalry and bring the children back home?

The winner of the prestigious British Book Award 2020 – Children’s Book of the Year (Illustrated and Non-fiction), it held the number one spot through 2019 and 2020 to become the nation's best selling picture book. The stage production debuted at the Rose Theatre Kingston in 2021, developed at Tall Stories’ studio in Islington and presented by Tall Stories, the same creative team that wowed us with The Gruffalo, The Snail and the Whale, and Room on the Broom. Directed by Tall Stories’ co-founder Toby Mitchell, the cast includes Felicia Akin-Tayo, Tom Capper, Robert Penny, Andrea Sadler and understudy Grace Liston. The movement direction is by Morag Cross, set and costume design by Barney George, lighting design by Peter Harrison, and music and lyrics by Jon Fiber and Andy Shaw.
