Anthology Theatre presents This Is My Family by Tim Firth, a gorgeous, warm-hearted musical comedy. Returning to the stage for the first time since 2019, This Is My Family is a heartfelt, uplifting musical celebrating love, forgiveness, and the joy of sharing giggles with your tribe.

This is My Family the story

Nicky's phone pings. She reads the message, which says ‘Describe your family and win a dream holiday’. So instead of her own real-life family she describes her dream family, the perfect family, not her ordinary real-life family. The problem is Nicky's worried her family is falling apart. When she wins the first prize and is asked to choose the holiday of her dreams, she doesn't go for Florence, Paris or the Antibes. She chooses a camping trip to a site where her parents once camped when they were her age, the place they first met. The result is a totally disastrous holiday that unexpectedly brings the whole family back together.

About This is My Family

This is Tim Firth’s UK Theatre Award winning Best Musical, directed by Olivier Award-winner and ex-Royal Court artistic director Vicky Featherstone. First staged in Sheffield during 2013, directed by Daniel Evans, it was revived at Chichester Festival Theatre in 2019 to grab a five-star award from The Guardian's reviewer Mark Lawson.

Firth's TV credits include Money For Nothing (winner of a Writer’s Guild Award), Roger and the Rottentrolls (winner of a BAFTA), Cruise of the Gods, The Flint Street Nativity, and All Quiet on the Preston Front (winner of a Writer’s Guild Award, British Comedy Award, Royal Television Society Award and BAFTA nomination). His movie credits include Blackball, Kinky Boots, and The Wedding Video. Director Vicky Featherstone was the artistic director of the UK new writing touring theatre company Paines Plough from 1997, the founding director of the National Theatre of Scotland, and the first female artistic director of London's Royal Court Theatre from 2013 to 2023.
