Tosca in London
Now booking! Tickets for Tosca are on sale and the show opens at the Royal Opera House on Monday, 12 April 2027. Book early for the best choice of seats for the opening weeks.
Rome is under the rule of the tyrannical Queen Maria-Carolina, whose sadistic chief of police, Baron Scarpia, ruthlessly arrests and executes anyone who opposes her. The famed and feisty opera singer Floria Tosca's lover, the painter Mario Cavaradossi, becomes one of his targets when he shelters an escaped prisoner. Now Floria Tosca must use all her wits and cunning to save her love, engaging in a deadly game of cat and mouse with the cruel Scarpia, who demands she sleeps with him in exchange for her lover's life. Can love triumph over tyranny?
Giacomo Puccini's Tosca is a story of love, murder, and political intrigue. A rich, vibrant score and colourful set brings to life this dramatic, emotionally turbulent story set in the aftermath of the French Revolution. Oliver Mears directs this riveting opera about love and passion in the midst of political turmoil and oppression, starring Aleksandra Kurzak in the title role of Puccini's most formidable heroine. This classic story of oppression and intrigue is relocated to modern-day Rome and features spectacular designs by Simon Lima Holdsworth and costume designs by Ilona Karas that bring this lush world to life. It includes unforgettable pieces of music, from Floria Tosca's sublime 'Vissi d'arte' to Cavaradossi's mournful 'E lucevan le stelle'.
Book now and don't miss this visually stunning and emotionally powerful story of love in a time of war.
