Yes, Prime Minister in London

Starring:

Graham Seed, Michael Simkins

It’s back. It’s funnier than ever. It’s Yes, Prime Minister!

Having toured Britain and won thousands of new fans, the stage version of the massive TV hit sitcom series, Yes Prime Minister, is back by popular demand for another west end run.

Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s first female Prime Minister, apparently adored the TV series when it originally appeared for eight consecutive conservative-run years between 1980 and 1988. Back then the TV show starred the hilarious Paul Eddington as the decent yet hopeless Prime Minister, Jim Hacker, who was outwitted cruelly and mercilessly at every turn by his Machiavellian personal secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby, originally portrayed by the wonderfully British Nigel Hawthorne.

Two massive west end smash hit runs later it’s as fresh and current as ever, and following a sell-out tour of the UK the ins and outs of life in Whitehall is thrilling the west end crowds for another season.

Yes Prime Minister - The story

It’s an on-stage riot of sex, scheming and scandal as the ancient political seat of Whitehall is featured again in this fantastic, satisfyingly silly comedy, written by the original BBC series’ writers Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn.

You’ll enjoy welcoming the much-loved Sir Humphrey Appleby and Jim Hacker back as they navigate the shark-infested waters of contemporary politics, set against a backdrop of economic meltdown, austerity measures, financial panic, gloom and doom. The only hope of rescue? Enter the Foreign Minister of Kumranistan, who has dreamed up a highly dubious and immoral deal that might just do the trick…

Strong language and adult themes

This is a west end treat for grown-ups, with strong language and adult themes throughout, so leave the little ones at home!

The show was excellent, but this particular theatre at the Trafalgar Studios is extremely cramped, which makes for an uncomfortable experience, which is unfortunate! Nevertheless, the quality of acting and the show overall was excellent.

Yes Prime Minister - as fresh and relevant as ever !

This is a great show, well acted with a superb set. Great for us old ones who remember the old TV show, but with an updated relevance to recent politics and current affairs which also appealed to my student daughter (she found it funny too). Highly recommended. Only thing was that the studio was half empty and that was a shame as it deserves better patronage.

A fun evening of political satire.

Outstanding script with up to date political satire written to squeeze out the most fun & laughter at the complexities present with an insider glimpse into British politics.

Okay but hard to reach the level of the television series!

The show was fun to see, glad I saw it. However, rarely have I ever been so glad to get out of a theater before! The seats were very uncomfortable, straightbacked, hard and narrow, the air was very hot and stuffy, and the bathroom was so cramped it was hard to get in/out/to the sinks, etc.

A definite Yes!

Subtle references to give this series a modern twist!
