Dracula (Lyric Hammersmith) in London
Bram Stoker's Dracula is the quintessential vampire novel, which has influenced countless works that followed it, from Nosferatu to Anne Rice. In this haunting, atmospheric gothic horror, the ancient and mysterious Count Dracula leaves his castle to journey to England in search of new blood, forcing an unlikely group to band together to stop him. Adapted into film, television, plays, and musicals, the story of Dracula has become synonymous with everything we love and fear about vampires: fear of the unknown and the allure of immortal life.
In this feminist retelling written by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm and directed by Emma Baggott, the focus shifts to the women of the play. Mina Murray takes the narrative reins to retell the story in her own way, with the help of a reluctant and increasingly frightened supporting cast. What really happened during the events of Dracula and why does the story need to be retold over and over? This eerie, unsettling play takes a fresh and sinister spin on the familiar story, centering on feminine rage and power in a frantically paced and delightfully chilling reimagining that will have you on the edge of your seat throughout.
If you love Dracula and you're itching for a new take on the classic horror story, don't miss this powerfully female-centric reimagining.

Mixed feelingsThere were 4 of us. 1 person in group really liked it. 2 people didn’t care for it and 1 person was kind of in the middle. We all thought the acting was very good. We just didn’t care for the storyline especially from middle to end. Set and lighting were good.

RedReally enjoyed the show. It set the scene from the very start even before the show started. Original, causing a range of emotions and brilliantly portrayed by all the actors.
