Fanny in London
Presented by RJG Productions in association with The Watermill Theatre, this irreverent comedy follows Fanny, the older sister of musical sensation Felix Mendelssohn - and the secret genius behind his most famous composition. Overlooked and forced into the shadows because of her sex, Fanny decides to take Felix’s place when he’s invited to premiere a new orchestral piece for Queen Victoria.
Written by Calum Finlay, Fanny first premiered at the Watermill Theatre in 2024, where the Guardian praised it as ‘a fun-packed outing for the other Mendelssohn’. It is inspired by the life of 19th century German composer and pianist Fanny Mendelssohn, chief musical adviser to her more famous brother, with whom she had a complicated relationship. In this heart-warming, witty play, Fanny finally gets her time to shine - book now to catch Fanny’s limited run at the King’s Head Theatre, premiering on October 10th.
