Lord of the Dance – Dangerous Games world première

Riverdance was a cultural phenomenon, wowing audiences at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest. In 1996 The Lord of the Dance became an even bigger phenomenon. Now the multi award-winning, multi record-breaking choreographer, known affectionately as the Lord of the Dance himself, returns to London's glittering theatreland for the last time with a show that's more spectacular than ever. Wow!

You can expect spellbinding stuff as the dancers weave a fascinating good versus evil tale inspired by traditional Irish folklore. The second the lights dim you'll be transported to another time and place. A fiery blend of precision dancing, so skilful you'll be left breathless, state of the art lighting and thrilling pyrotechnics makes this a brand new classic in the art of stage storytelling.

Michael Flatley has painstakingly put together a crack team of forty brilliant young performers for the show. There's brand new music courtesy of the composer Gerard Fahy, fresh staging, new costumes and fantastic new choreography, too.

Dangerous Games runs until September 2015, a performance that's rich in the great man's distinctive brand of contemporary and traditional Irish dance. It's due to be his final West End appearance and the young lords of the dance he has chosen to play the part in his place are super-seriously talented, not to be missed.

It's perfect for people aged five or over and anyone who adores the sheer, raw emotional power of dance.

Lord of the Dance - The story

The Lord of the dance needs to protect his people against Don Dorcha, the Dark Lord. It's a dangerous task for The Little Spirit, who travels through time to help the Lord keep his people safe. As the dark power challenges our hero, this epic traditional Irish folk tale draws you into a compelling, unforgettable and truly spellbinding mythical universe.

THIS SHOW NEEDS A BIG SCENE AND DECORS!

London Box Office customer

Difficult to understand and follow - not really impressive at all

Difficult to understand whats going on until after the interval, just seemed in the first part to be a mix of country music v irish dancing - with no rhryme nor reason to what was going on. If there was a strory line - i didnt get it. Female singer aweful for all songs. Disappointing.

London Box Office customer

Amazing

I have seen this show 4 times .That says it all.Best show I have seem ever.

London Box Office customer

Disappointing

Too much emphasis on what the performers looked like. Girls over sexualised male lead loved himself. Was expecting far more dancers in the line up. Storyline almost none existent! Singing irrelevant.

London Box Office customer

Excellent dancing through out

Brilliant show to watch. Excellent dancing, good music, lovely atmosphere. I took my daughter to see this show as a birthday treat and we both totally enjoyed it. Excellent location of theatre, right next to embankment tube station.

London Box Office customer

Not as good as river dance

London Box Office customer

Very Nice show!

London Box Office customer

An explosion of musical enjoyment.

Dancing was superb especially for those who like Irish dancing. Costumes, music, dance and signing all top class.

London Box Office customer

Mesmerising performance

The costumes were amazing, vibrant and colourful. Loved the dancing; so fast at time, truly awe-inspiring.

London Box Office customer

Fantastic Show

What can I say? It's fantastic, very very good.

London Box Office customer

Disappointing

The dancing was superb but overall the show was disappointing. No live music (even the on-stage instruments were mimed - very poorly). No real plot as far as I could tell and the whole show felt very disjointed. The costumes were far too revealing with no real reason to be. A shame as I was really looking forward to it.

London Box Office customer

Not as good as original

London Box Office customer

Irish dancing at it's best.

London Box Office customer

London Box Office customer

Skilful

The show was excellent ... Sheer outstanding skill and energy.... Two hours performance wasn't enough for me, I could had stayed there all night, watching more and more and more and more..........

London Box Office customer

River dance

If it was not for Flattery writing it it would never made it to theatre, The dancers were excellent the rest was very poor, would not recommend it.Too much of the screen at the background you could have gone to the cinema.

London Box Office customer

Fantastic dancing and music

London Box Office customer

Confusing but good performance

Having not seen any of The Lord of The Dance shows previously, I found the storyline quite difficult to follow (seeing as there was not really any dialogue at all). However the quality of dancing, singing, and instruments was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed the show.

London Box Office customer

Poor sequel

Saw Lord of the dance many years ago and the music and story was fantastic, this was a poor sequel with no storyline and uninspiring

London Box Office customer

first class a must to see

London Box Office customer

As good as ever

This is my fourth experience of an Irish dance show and was not disappointed. A few little surprises this time, and all in all a very enjoyable show.

London Box Office customer

catchy

There was an awful of exactly the same in story and moves as in previous shows e.g. the little elf with broken pipe etc.

London Box Office customer

London Box Office customer

Worth a night out

A colourful show great dancing

London Box Office customer

Definitely a must-see!

The show was extremely enjoyable, but what I could do with a bit less was the digital effects.

London Box Office customer

Loved it

This was absolutely brilliant. Me and my husband went together totally for me but he admitted that he really enjoyed it too and that meant swallowing his pride!

London Box Office customer

Good and bad

The elements which were the traditional Irish folklore were amazing - exactly what you can expect from Lord of the Dance - synced, impressive, extremely fast, mastery! However, the rest was kitsch! The story line, costumes and music which were trying to build a futuristic war plot seemed like they might be from 1990s and not made for a contemporary audience. The animations on the screen behind were also cheap and low quality (also as if they were from the 90s). The non-Irish dances (eg seductive hip dance of the villain female character) were awkward to say the least, and completely out of sync - which is surprising given that during the tap dancing the dancers were amazing. It was also somewhat disappointing to see no diversity among actors (all white) and a stereotypical representation of good and bad (blonds are good, brunettes are evil). All in all the choreographer/ director / dancers should stick to what they know best (traditional elements) and forget any awkward innovations. People come to see Lord of the Dance for the Irish tap dance not for cumbersome urban movements.

London Box Office customer

fascinating

London Box Office customer

Best of Irish

This show is compatible to River Dance, the scenery, and effects are brilliant.

London Box Office customer

Wonderful lighting and graphics with superb dancing and story

London Box Office customer

A total dance lesson to anyone

We were amazed by the continuity of the show. It is a seemless masterpiece putting irish dancing upon a pedestal. Great music too. All the dancing was in perfect step & performed to perfection

London Box Office customer

Great show, but let down by the megadrive graphics

As usual an exceptional performance from the dancers. The new Lord of the Dance nailed it and was incredible. The bad guy in the goth outfit was also amazing. The girls as usual were fantastic....but we were a bit bemused by the shoddy megadrive graphics in the background. Really distracting and didnt add anything to the show. Lose the graphics, add more dancers.

London Box Office customer

Enjoyable show

Birthday treat for my husband, who always wanted to see the original Riverdance. After this performance I really wish we had made a greater effort to see them. Our 21 year old daughter was with us and thought it was also wonderful!

London Box Office customer

There really is one lord of the Dance

The luck of the Irish certainly isn't needed when you a talented cast like this. You can't help but be captivated into this rhythm bonanza. Finding yourself tapping those feet in a poor attempt to replicate the amazing talent on display. Combine this with a jaw dropping production incredible vocal performances - and you really are onto a winner. The only negative I can find is the story can be a bit lapsy daisy, but hey its about the dancing. If you are a fan of Irish dancing, culture then this is certainly for you. If not, then you can do no harm in trying something a bit different.

London Box Office customer

Joyful inspirational with some emotion

London Box Office customer

Energetic vibrant performance

This show was a great blend of light and shade, a mix of toe-tapping, thunder-clapping with soft shoes and butterflies. Such energetic dancing and vibrant sets an enjoyable evening.

London Box Office customer

Fabulous

the show gave me a buzz, and I'm writing this review the day after, and I'm still buzzing.

London Box Office customer

Outstanding

What a wonderful experience we enjoyed the show immensely. A couple of surprises ( not to be mentioned here ) just added to the spectacular. The lead female was extrodinary and the evil warlord was as good a dancer as the lord of the dance. Highly recommend this wonderful show. Venue is comfortable and close to bars and eateries to enjoy before the show.

London Box Office customer

let's Dance

Excellent show for all age groups

London Box Office customer

Exhilarating giving you the feeling to take part.

The show and the whole theatre experience was very enjoyable. The newly decorated theatre was wonderful and good to see the west end going from strength to strength well done dominion.

London Box Office customer

Simply sparkled

London Box Office customer

Amazing dancing

Overall I enjoyed the show. I thought the storyline was weak but the dancing made up for it, so much energy.

London Box Office customer

Fab show

Great show with fantastic dancers, brought back memories of seeing Riverdance and Michael Flatly years ago - excellent.

London Box Office customer

Show was brilliant, how they can dance so quick and always synchronised with each other was just amazing.

London Box Office customer

Almost there

Fact, the show including intermission was over in two hours, which I can understand because the dancing must have been energy sapping, so if you appreciate Irish dancing then this show is for you (Flatley not missed). The Dominion rightly boasts a major refit where the large backdrop electronic screen was impressive, but I still can not decide whether it aided or distracted from the show. My companion, of Irish decent, was ecstatic, where I, English traditionalist (?) definitely enjoyed the show in that it was far better than I expected, but I would rate most of the other London musicals as superior.

London Box Office customer

hypnotic

London Box Office customer

A night of mesmerizing, magical experiences

This show is beautifully enacted with dance of such perfect synchronicity that you are left in awe. The light show is a mesmerizing, magical experience that leaves you breathless. It is a must for any age, any gender, anybody who wants to be taken to a wonderful world of artistic excellence....

London Box Office customer

Fantastic Lord of the Dance Show

My daughter Aine and I went to this amazing show.. Aine is 15 and does Irish Dancing so this was extra special for her to see an Irish Dancing show. The routine of the dancing was very impressive and the timing impeccable. The music worked so well and we especially enjoyed the two ladies on the Irish Fiddles. We thoroughly enjoyed this show as it was extremely lively and the music, dance steps and atmosphere really added to the performance. The only issue I had were 5 ladies who arrived late, sat in front of us and talked throughout much of the show !! Other than that we really enjoyed our evening.

London Box Office customer

Just an average show

London Box Office customer

Amazing! Must see!

London Box Office customer

Enjoyable

London Box Office customer

Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games After a hugely successful world tour, Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games will hop, skip and jump into the Dominion Theatre in March 2015 for a limited six-month run.

Review of Lord of The Dance

15 Sep 2014

Lord of The Dance Dance now wherever you may be! Michael Flatley may have given up his crown as the Lord of the Dance but I still watched this show in a state of childlike glee… for the most part.

I remember being 5 or 6 years old and dancing round the living room to a VHS tape of Michael Flatley’s ‘Riverdance’. Of course at the time I thought I was as good as the man himself, but even then the poise and precision of the dancers, the beautiful Gaelic music and the almost ethereal costumes always held a magical quality for me. So when I entered the London Palladium to watch Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games, all of those memories came flooding back.
