Full casting has been announced for the 20th anniversary production of Avenue Q at the Shaftesbury Theatre, along with the full creative team. This highly anticipated and multi-award-winning musical will open in the West End on 20th March, running until 29th August 2026.

Described as Sesame Street for adults, Avenue Q follows college graduate Princeton, who’s struggling to figure out what to do with his English degree. He finds himself living in a run-down and shabby apartment in New York’s Avenue Q. There he meets and befriends his eccentric, loveable misfit neighbours. Together they navigate the highs and lows of adulthood, from finding a job to navigating relationships, and all the joys of sex, alcohol, and pornography.

The production will star Emily Benjamin as Kate Monster and Lucy The Slut, Noah Harrison as Princeton and Rod, Meg Hateley as Mrs T and Bad Idea Bear, Oliver Jacobson as Brian, Charlie McCullagh as Nicky, Trekkie Monster and Bad Idea Bear, Amelia Kinu Muus as Christmas Eve and Dionne Ward-Anderson as Gary Coleman. The rest of the company will include Jasmine Beel, Jonathan Carlton, Angelis Hunt, Lesley Lemon, Jessica Niles Kadi and Joshua Williams-Ward.

The original Broadway team behind this fun, quirky musical includes award-winning director Jason Moore, with music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, a book by Jeff Whitty, music orchestrations and arrangements by Stephen Oremus, original Broadway puppets, conceived and designed by Rick Lyon and set design by Anna Louizos. The new UK creative team will feature choreography by Ebony Molina, costume design by Jean Chan, lighting design by Tim Lutkin, sound design by Paul Groothuis, video design by Nina Dunn for Pixellux, puppetry coaching by Iestyn Evans and Andy Heath for Talk to the Hand Puppets and casting by Pearson Casting CDG. Original West End company member Julie Atherton will serve as Associate Director on the production, with musical direction by Benjamin Holder.

Produced by Kevin McCollum and Jamie Wilson Productions, Avenue Q first opened in the West End at the Noel Coward Theatre in 2006, before transferring to the Gielgud Theatre and Wyndham's Theatre, where it ran until 2010. This is its first return to the West End since, apart from a special 18th anniversary concert production at the Sondheim Theatre in 2024.

Director Jason Moore said, "This dynamic group of actors brings exceptional talent and inventive spirit to the stage, bringing perspectives to the show in ways that feel both thrillingly fresh and perfectly timed for today’s London audiences."
