Bradley Gibson
Bradley Gibson originated the role of Hercules in its world premiere production in New Jersey in 2023, and will now return to the role in the final extension of the West End production. This will be his West End debut. Gibson’s other theatre credits include Fremont Ave. (Arena Stage and South Coast Rep), The Lion King, A Bronx Tale, Rocky (Broadway), Love’s Labour’s Lost (NY Public Theatre), and The School for Scandal (Red Bull Theater).
Gibson said, “What an honour to step back into the role of Hercules which I had the enormous privilege of originating back home."
Gibson succeeds Luke Brady (The Prince of Egypt), who originated the role for the show’s West End premiere in June 2024. He will begin performances from 29 June until the musical closes on 5 September 2026.
About Hercules
Adapted from the 1997 Walt Disney Studios animated film, Hercules is loosely based on the Greek myth of Hercules. The son of Zeus, Hercules is sent down to earth from Olympus as a baby, where he grows up among mortals. Along his journey to becoming a true hero, he trains under the satyr Philoctetes, falls in love with the beautiful but troubled Megara, and faces a whole host of monsters, while his wicked uncle Hades plots to overthrow the rule of Zeus.
The musical opened at Theatre Royal Drury Lane last summer, going on to be nominated for three WhatsOnStage Awards including for Best New Musical. It features beloved songs from the original film, such as 'Go the Distance' and 'I Won't Say I'm in Love', as well as several new ones written for the musical.
The creative team
The production features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by David Zippel, and a new book by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah. Directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, with co-choreography by Tanisha Scott, it features costume design by Gregg Barnes and Sky Switser, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Adam Fisher, and video design by George Reeve.
The cast
Further casting for the show’s final months in London will be announced soon. The current company includes Luke Brady as Hercules, Mae Ann Jorolan as Meg, Trevor Dion Nicholas as Phil, and Stephen Carlile as Hades with Leslie Beehann (Calliope), Candace Furbert (Thalia), Sharlene Hector (Clio), Brianna Ogunbawo (Melpomene), and Robyn Rose-Li (Terpsichore) as the Muses.
Hercules will continue performances at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane until 5 September 2026.
