Brilliant contemporary production of a Lloyd Webber/Price classic. Courtney Arango was the standout performance for me as dancer/choreographer. The cast, music and set is so strong it doesn't need Sam Ryder as Jesus to be outstanding. Julian Clary's Herod was delivered in a way only he could. Recommended.

Well of course you have the classic storyline and incredible lyrics, but what made thisso memorable was the simple but stunningly effective set, and the voices of the lead singers. Sam Ryder as Jesus and Desmonda Cathabel as Mary Magdalene were particularly wonderful, had me in tears several times. The only (very) minor criticism was Julian Clary playing the brief cameo role of King Herod. The London Palladium tgeatre itself is fantastic with wonderful views offered even in the Royal Circle. Understand the production is moving to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane shortly. Go see this for Sam Ryder's performance if nothing else.

The choreography was extraordinary — powerful, intense and executed to perfection. The emotion coming from the stage was incredible, and the voices and performances were just sensational. It was raw, moving, energetic and completely captivating. Honestly, it was bloody unbelievable! One of those performances where you sit there thinking, WOW. The talent on that stage was phenomenal. Absolutely fantastic. I loved every minute of it and would see it again in a heartbeat. BRILLIANT!

From the moment you see the set you know this is a musical like no other. The musicians are on stage throughout and the cast flow in out and around them. The music resounds around the auditorium and with an ominous presence. The calibre of the singers is mind blowing and the energy and enthusiasm of the supporting cast especially the dancers, performing to some brilliant choreography has to be mentioned. A truly first class show. You won’t be disappointed.

The show was not what we expected the singers were almost screaming at times, and one could not understand any of the words of the songs because of the way they were sung, and because the story was being told in the songs we couldn't understand what was going on .The highlight for us was when the girl actually sang a song solo without all the shouting that was recognisable from the original record from the 70's.which was lovely.and with all the scaffolding onstage and part of the audience standing inside the scaffolding looking like caged animals the set was drab and uninspiring The best part were the musicians who were so high up in the scaffolding you could only see their feet from the grand circle all in all this modern type of singing by means of shouting didn't go down well.I noticed the applause getting lower and lower until later in the second half when Julian Clary came on.all in all we were disappointed.

This is a good revival of Superstar and I'd give it 5 stars if it hadn't done what all musicals do now - turn up the volume so you can't actually make out the words But not nearly as bad as Evita where I was surrounded by first timers to the show who were googling the story in the interval ! And Time Rice's lyrics are so clever !

This production of JCS is Amazing. Sam Ryder is phenomenal as Jesus. If you don't already know the musical, a couple of the cast were a bit hard to understand what they were singing. Other than that, the staging, the lighting, the sound, the cast were first class. Cant wait to see it again.

A fabulous creative show. The scenery was so effective in providing both an atmospheric and practical backdrop allowing the actors to appear all around the theatre. It is a musical and the voices blended beautifully. The solo pieces from Jesus, Judas and Mary were exquisite, full of emotion, perfectly executed. This was the best musical I have ever seen in terms of production and delivery.

Lots of belting it out and at times screeching . The choreography looked like a scene from a marshal arts class. Aggressive with lots of air punching , whilst scoring points for most calories burnt. Energy , pace and volume are not a replacement for art and emotion . Some great vocals but lacking in emotion . At no point was I swept up in the story. That high you want to leave the theatre with didn’t happen . I noticed a few people didn’t return after the interval

We thorough enjoyed this showing of JSC. I’m not usually a fan of ultra-modern versions but this really works as it’s so dramatic. Sam Ryder is an inspired choice playing Jesus as dramatically as you would expect but I have to commend the rest of the key characters; Mary Magdalene, Judas, Pontius Pilate all fantastic voices-I cried when she sang ‘I don’t know how to love him’. Shout out to the guys who played Caiaphas, Annas, Simon & Peter as well; wasn’t familiar with any of them beforehand but amazing voices also.

I love this show. I originally went to see at Regents Park. A dramatic venue. The relationships so poignant. Atmosphere is Magica, Emotionally charged. Such fabulous sound tracks. Powerful voices. It ticks all the boxes In reality. I have seen the show about 12 times. Regent’s Park. Barbican. Liverpool and now The Palladium. I simply never tire of it. I love seeing the musicians performing. Part of the stage.

Expectations were not high as I have seen several versions of this musical over the years. That said, the show did not disappoint in any way. Another review remarked that the music was too loud and drowned out the singers. I did not find that to be the case at all. Music and vocals were properly balanced. Judas was excellent!

We were left feeling disappointed. This was our first visit to the Palladium, our seats were great and we will be back. However, this is not a colourful production, sound was difficult at times to make out and sometimes seemed distorted. The cast were very good, in particular we really enjoyed Mary Magdalana’s singing voice and the part played by the 5 Herod baddies, I also really enjoyed Richard Armitage’s role of Herod. Unfortunately We would not recommend the show.

The staging of the show was fascinating and excellent. Musicians were superb. Dancers were awesome. Fantastic vocals throughout although I struggled to make out what Judas was singing about despite having a phenomenal voice. As for Sam his Gethsemane was unforgettable. This was a fabulous show with phenomenal performances from the entire cast. Sam Ryder's voice was exceptional, going above and beyond my expectations, but every performer delivered an outstanding performance that made the production a joy to watch. I gave the music 4 stars because, at times, the accompaniment felt a little rushed. I would have loved more space for Mary to fully savour her two slower solo songs, allowing the emotion and power of her voice to shine through even more. I also gave the costumes 4 stars. While they were excellent overall, I felt the lepers' scene could have been expressed more effectively through the costumes to enhance the visual storytelling. These are only minor observations, however. Overall, this was a truly fantastic production and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I would highly recommend it.

The show itself was brilliant and great to see it again. Sometimes the lights scanned the audience which made the audience shut their eyes as it was too bright shining right in your eyes. Big shame some members of the audience felt they had to scream and whistle their approval which really tended to spoil the experience for those close by. The main characters were brilliant supported by a very good ensemble. Worth going.
