The first major revival of George Bernard Shaw's play will come crashing into the 21st Century when it opens in May.
Imelda Staunton, Bessie Carter, Kevin Doyle and Reuben Joseph. Headshots provided by production.
Directed by Dominic Cooke (Hello Dolly!, London Palladium), joining the previously announced Imelda Staunton and Bessie Carter are Kevin Doyle (Pressure, Royal Lyceum Edinburgh), Robert Glenister (The Seagull, Harold Pinter Theatre), Reuben Joseph (A View from the Bridge, Tron Theatre Glasgow) and Sid Sagar (Ballet Shoes, National Theatre).
Written back in 1893, Mrs. Warren's Profession wasn't performed in London until 1925 as it was banned by Lord Chamberlin for 30 years due to its candid discussion of prostitution. It follows the complex relationship between Mrs. Warren (played by Imelda Staunton), who has built herself a fortune through her involvement in a brothel business and her daughter who is trying to understand the revelation of her mother's past.
Mrs. Warren's Profession will play at the Garrick Theatre from 10 May to 16 August 2025. It follows Unicorn, a new play by Mike Bartlett which plays until 26 April 2025.
