It’s an iconic thriller. It has been on stage non-stop in the West End for an awesome 7 decades. Agatha Christie would be thrilled. Now the initial casting has been announced for the play’s glittering 70th Anniversary tour. This is the longest running play in the world, and it is set to visit more than 70 venues throughout the UK and Ireland from September 2022.
Who’s involved in The Mousetrap 70th anniversary tour?
This genre-defining murder mystery from Agatha Christie, the world's best-selling novelist of all time, opens at the Theatre Royal Nottingham, the same place it first opened way back in 1952. Following the 1952 premiere touring production, the play took to the stage in the West End where it continues a record-breaking engagement at the St Martin's Theatre. So far it’s been on stage there more than 28,500 times, and has sold more than 10 million tickets.
- Launching the tour will be Todd Carty in the role of Major Metcalf. Carty has had a long career on stage and screen but is most known for his television roles of Mark Fowler in EastEnders, PC Gabriel Kent in The Bill and Tucker Jenkins in Grange Hill. He was a contestant Dancing on Ice and Celebrity Masterchef
- TV actress Gwyneth Strong will return to the role of Mrs Boyle for the initial venues. She is known for her beloved portrayal of Cassandra in Only Fools and Horses
- Todd Carty will perform the role of Major Metcalf in Nottingham, Dublin, Cork, Brighton, Birmingham, Liverpool, Oxford, Bath, Norwich, Malvern, Newcastle, Coventry, Southampton, York, Cardiff, Plymouth, Lichfield, Stoke-on-Trent, Woking, Perth, Edinburgh, and Glasgow
- Gwyneth Strong will perform the role of Mrs Boyle in Nottingham, Dublin, Cork, Brighton, Birmingham, Liverpool, Oxford, Bath, and Manchester
- The rest of the cast is still to be announced

- The 70thAnniversary tour of The Mousetrap will visit Dublin, Cork, Brighton, Birmingham, Liverpool, Oxford, Bath, Manchester, Norwich, Malvern, Newcastle, Coventry, Southampton, York, Cardiff, Plymouth, Lichfield, Stoke-on-Trent, Woking, Perth, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cheltenham, Milton Keynes, Sheffield, Inverness, Aberdeen, Blackpool, Hereford, Chelmsford, Dundee, Derby, Bristol, Leeds, Cambridge, Torquay, Buxton, Swansea, Northampton, Truro, Peterborough, King's Lynn, Guildford, New Brighton, Bromley, and Hastings, continuing throughout 2023 with further venues into 2024 to be announced in due course.
