Rebecca musical to open English language premiere in London

Rebecca tickets

The wait is finally over! After 12 hugely successful foreign language productions, the critically acclaimed musical Rebecca is coming to London!

This brand-new production will run at London's Charing Cross Theatre between 4 September - 18 November 2023.

What is Rebecca about?

Based on the iconic 1938 novel 'Rebecca' by Daphne Du Maurier, the musical adaptation of Rebecca has been seen by over 2 million people worldwide.

This thrilling story follows a newly married couple, as they had to the rich husband's Cornish estate. The new wife soon meets the uninviting housekeeper, Mrs Danvers, who makes it clear that she'll never be able to live up to the first wife, the incredibly glamourous Rebecca, who tragically died in a drowning accident.

The novel is no stranger to adaptations, having been turned into a Oscar nominated film in 1940 by Alfred Hitchcock and recently re-adapted by Netflix.

In 2006, the musical had its world premiere at the VBW-theatre Raimund Theater in Vienna. It played to sold-out houses for three seasons, and is currently running a successful revival.

Who is involved in Rebecca?

Translated into English by Tony Award winner, Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard), Rebecca is composed by two incredibly successful German language musical composers, Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay.

The musical will involve a large orchestra of 18 musicians bringing the 22 original songs to life.

The production will be directed by Alejandro Bonatto, who is also directing the upcoming production of The Human Voice at the Charing Cross Theatre.

Cast and further creatives are to be announced.
