About Noises Off
Noises Off description
"The funniest farce ever written." Evening Standard
Michael Frayn’s iconic backstage comedy Noises Off transfers to the West End, following a triumphant sell-out season at the Lyric Hammersmith.
With technical brilliance and split-second timing, it takes us behind the scenes with a company of actors in a hilarious and heartfelt tribute to the unpredictability of life in the theatre. Hailed as one of the funniest plays of all time, the Olivier Award-winning Noises Off originally premiered at the Lyric Hammersmith in 1982 and instantly became a timeless British comedy.
In an exuberant new production by Jeremy Herrin (All My Sons, Wolf Hall,This House), Noises Off arrives at the Garrick Theatre for a strictly limited run, for fans to enjoy and new audiences to discover.

We took older teenage kids with us , we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Wouldn't recommend taking younger kids ,a bit of language and innuendos. A slapstick comedy done over 3 parts. Just brilliantly done.

The first act seemed slower and a dated. But it got into stride in the second half. Great comic timing. Tour de force

1st part a little slow to get into but set the scene well for the remainder of the play. Timing was impeccable. Tick in the box for a farce. Now feel I have done that and got the t shirt. It was my Mum's choice for her 80th birthday. We were a party across the ages and everyone had a good time. Acting was excellent. Loved the Garrick Theatre. It felt very intimate.

All the cast were excellent and special mention for the terrific job Keiran Gough did as Phillip in the matinee performance today - sterling work. Timing and the precision of the cast moving around the complicated sets made it a moveable feast of entertainment. Loved it.

The show is a farce and would be difficult for younger people to follow. I would also think it would be difficult for people with out a good command of English. However, all that aside, it is a very funny play, brilliantly acted with some quite stunning comedic timing. Your face will hurt from laughter when you leave the theatre!

Really excellent show. Extremely funny, superbly acted and staged. How do they do that night after night? Highly recommended for a thoroughly enjoyable, classic London theatre evening.

The cast worked really hard throughout. Possibly slightly old fashioned so appeals more to the over 50's! However very entertaining.

Seen every production since the opening at the Lyric plus many amateur efforts. Casting was not strong. Mrs Clackett in particular and Brooke. Pace was great and still always entertains

An excellent farce that never flags. If you’ve enjoyed ‘The Play that Goes Wrong’, you’ll enjoy this even more – far slicker.

Noises Off is classic farce, very well constructed, and as complex and silly as you would expect.
It also, by default, feels quite dated.Review: NOISES OFF at the Garrick Theatre
