Spamalot in London
Enjoy a laugh a minute with Spamalot!
If you love Monty Python you’re in for a real treat. Now for something completely different… it’s Spamalot! The popular Monty Python musical returns to the West End with the Python team’s stage adaptation of the classic 1975 film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. As well as some familiar tunes you’ll recognise from the movie, Spamalot comes complete with more songs and a host of extra funny bits to keep your laughing gear occupied. King Arthur stars in an extremely silly script created by Eric idle and the music is by Idle’s good friend and long-time creative collaborator, John Du Prez.
Spamalot – The story
King Arthur reigns and the Knights of the Round Table, plus their gorgeous show girls, enjoy a life rich in witch burnings, hostile French people, Evil Knights, terrifying murderous rabbits and all manner of strange, weird and wonderful fun. The Arthurian Legend will never be the same!
Why Spamalot? Eric Idle explains: I like the title Spamalot a lot. We tested it with audiences on my recent US tour and they liked it as much as I did, which is gratifying. After all, they are the ones who will be paying Broadway prices to see the show. It comes from a line in the movie which goes: "we eat ham, and jam and Spam a lot."
Britain’s favourite comedy song takes the stage, with Always Look On the Bright Side of Life raising the rafters every time. The cast is amazing. The costumes are beautifully ridiculous. And the excellent production values make it a show you’ll never forget.
Expect funny… very funny. Ever since the show first premiered in Chicago back in 2005, it has been drawing huge crowds of seasoned Python fans as well as delighting thousands of people who haven’t experienced the delights of Pythonesque humour before.
“Your mother is a hamster and your father smells of elderberries”
If that made you laugh, Spamalot is for you! Rock your world with tunes like Finland/the Fisch Schlapping Dance, the Monk’s Chant, King Arthur's Song, I Am Not Dead Yet and Come With Me. Sing along to Laker Girls Cheer, The Song That Goes Like This, All For One and Knights of the Round Table. Laugh at Find Your Grail, Run Away! And hear Always Look on the Bright Side of Life live, the real deal.

I took my family to see Spamamalot, I have seen the show previously and knew my daughters would love it and they did. Joe Pascale is unpredictable and Bonnie Langford was brilliant with an amazing range of singing. The cast worked very hard. It was a truly brilliant show.

We bought tickets for stalls as thought view would not be as good in dress circle bug as theatre is small I think any seat would have been fine so could have saved money had we known the theatre better. Joe Pasquale is very funny, love the way he ad libs & the way the actors all bounce off each other. Bonnie Langford has an amazing voice, hasn't ever seemed to age and is as beautiful as ever. A hilariously funny show. Chosen by my partner for his 50th birthday teat and he was in tears of laughter throughout. Perfect!

This was the MOST Fun I ever had in a theatre show- and as much as I found Book of Mormon extremely funny this performance felt so much more genuine and comedic. The cast improvised and laughed themselves which made it feel more personal. Loved LOVED it!!! :D Will recommend to all.

Does the word fart make you laugh? If so, this show is for you!! If , howeve, like most of us you grew out of it by about age 10, then don't bother with Spamalot. However, the cast like it so much they laugh at each other every time it was said. Stay away if English is not your first language as you certainly won't get any of the jokes (???) Totally lame. Totally unfunny. It lives because of the memories of the Monty Python sketches, which wer cutting edge in their time, but are now jaded and dated.

This was a good laugh the whole way through- I brought my 14 year old son and it was perfect for both us. We just couldn't stop giggling - the timing of the jokes was excellent & we loved the toilet humour, the piss taking and the pure daftness. The theatre is lovely- it was such a great night out! I'd highly recommend it :)

Decided at the last minute to "do a show" reserved tickets on line (it's really simple - and it does work!!) The Theatre is small, but the seats are comfortable and have plenty of legroom. The show is hilarious (and refreshingly not PC!!). You don't have to be a Python fan to really enjoy it either. The cast seem enjoy the brilliant script too. Well worth going to see.

Really enjoyed the show, watched on Saturday afternoon. If you like serious plays this probably isn't for you, if your the type of person who loves to laugh and smile then definitely book tickets. Joe Pasqualie and Carly Stenson were fabulous as were the rest of the cast, Joe especially will have you roaring with laughter.

Monty Python has been a delight in our popular culture since their absurd, irreverent comedy first graced our small screens in the 70s. I am of the generation that could recite whole slabs of dialogue ( a good thing ?) and this show is peppered with such quotes. So much so that you can spend 10 minutes of a sketch anticipating punch lines that now have the impact of an old favourite sweater rather than their original side splitting impact. This production was ably performed by the trimmed down cast and band and as such had some of the feel of the original MP shows that had a very limited budget. High point was newer material like Lady In The Lake's diva song in Act 2 about having been offstage too long - Eric Idle the master of the pisstake. Pinter this ain't but a gently amusing, high energy show in an old chocolate box of a theatre

This was my son, neice and nephew's first introduction to Python. It was great watching them laughing as hard as my brother and I were. We saw Python for the first time when we were about their age (11,13 & 14). An extra bonus was seeing the cast leaving by the stage door. Thanks for posing for photos with the kids - they were chuffed to bits.

It works - just 12 people on a simple stage; no special effects. It's childish yet perceptive - pure Monty Python making fun of musicals. The Lady of the Lake Songs are sheer brilliance. Go if you have ever seen a LLoyd Webber show and can laugh at a pantomime.
