The Gathered Leaves in London
Three generations of the Pennington family gather for a birthday after not having seen each other for seventeen years. Patriarch William must confront the expectations he forced on his three wayward children and the cracks and resentments this has created in their family - before his time runs out.
This play by Andrew Keatley (Alligators, Go To Your God Like A Soldier) first premiered at the Park Theatre in 2015 to critical acclaim and praise. The Evening Standard praised it as ‘perceptive and funny about the details of domestic awkwardness’ and The Guardian said ‘Keatley breathes new life into an old form’. Now it gets a second wind in a brand-new revival this year, directed by former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Adrian Noble (The Winter’s Tale, A Midsummer Night’s Dream).
The Gathered Leaves opens at the Park Theatre on August 13th, so don’t miss this mesmerising drama about what happens when family and reputation come into conflict.
