The crotchety, miserly moneylender Ebenezer Scrooge has forgotten the meaning of Christmas. These mysterious phantoms take Scrooge on a terrifying journey, showing him the miseries of his past and present, and the promise of a tragic future. Matthew Warchus's smash-hit production of Charles Dickens' timeless classic returns to the Old Vic for its ninth consecutive year, making it the longest-running annual staging of A Christmas Carol. Adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, His Dark Materials), it stars Paul Hilton (The Inheritance, Lady Macbeth, Slow Horses) as Ebenezer Scrooge. Unique staging and clever storytelling immerses the audience into the grim, eerie world of Victorian London and Dickens' ghostly winter tale. CleverThoroughly enjoyed this production. It kept to the tale but added some very good tweaked script that readily fitted in with the tale. Cast were excellent very clear and some excellent bell ringing that all in all created a lovely christmassy atmosphere. Definitely recommend this show
