What is Dracula about?
Bram Stoker’s Dracula is the quintessential vampire novel, which has influenced countless works that followed it, from Nosferatu to Anne Rice. In this gothic horror story, English solicitor Jonathan Harker journeys to Transylvania to meet with a new client: the mysterious and elusive Count Dracula - an ancient vampire whose nefarious schemes take him to London in search of new blood.
Dracula has inspired a myriad of adaptations, from films to television shows to plays - and this stage adaptation is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Award-winning actress Cynthia Erivo returns to the West End to star in Tony Award-nominated director Kip Williams’s seductive, intoxicating adaptation - where she’ll play all 23 roles, transforming into a dizzying range of characters, from tortured victim Lucy to vampire hunter Van Helsing to Count Dracula himself. This spine-tingling gothic masterpiece is brought to life by Sydney Theatre Company's visionary theatre-maker Kip Williams, who directed Sarah Snook in The Picture of Dorian Gray in the West End last year. Told through Williams’ genre-defying style of cinetheatre that combines live video, pre-recorded film, and live performance, this innovative piece of theatre will ensnare and immerse audiences into the terrifying, seductive world of Dracula.
If you love Dracula and you’re fascinated by gothic horror, you won’t want to miss this groundbreaking and chilling theatrical experience and feat of innovative storytelling.
