Fawlty Towers in London

Don't miss the comedy of the year. If you're a fan of FAWLTY TOWERS, you can't afford to miss this adaptation.

Fifty years ago FAWLTY TOWERS exploded onto our TV screens and made sitcom history. Now the classic comedy has been adapted for the West End by John Cleese, who played Basil Fawlty, and it’s on stage at the Apollo Theatre.

Why You Should See Fawlty Towers

  • If you liked the TV series, you'll adore this stage adaptation which combines three of the best-loved episodes from the original series.
  • The leading cast includes actors Hemi Yeroham, Victoria Fox, Adam Jackson-Fox and Anna-Jane Casey.
  • Endorsed by the creators of the original show (John Cleese and Connie Booth), it is predicted to be the comedy of the year.

Fawlty Towers - The Story

The action takes place in a fictional hotel in the seaside town of Torquay in Devon. Basil and Sybil have been tipped off about a visit by hotel inspectors, who Basil is keen to impress. As he does his awful best to ingratiate himself with the guests he believes are the inspectors, things quickly begin to go downhill. You’ll meet the famous Germans and the guest from hell Mrs Richards, and Basil’s cringe-worthy antics will keep you laughing to the end.

About Fawlty Towers

All the familiar characters are on stage: Basil and his wife Sybil, their assistant Polly, and Manuel the trainee waiter from Barcelona. Cleese himself was involved in the casting, assembling a top-class 18-strong team of talent. The two-hour play is based on three original TV episodes: ‘The Hotel Inspector’ and ‘The Germans’ from series one, and ‘Communication Problems’ from series two, all brought together in a new finale.

Fawlty Towers Cast & Creatives

The show stars Adam Jackson-Smith as Basil, Anna-Jane Casey as Sybil, and Paul Nicholas as the Major. Hemi Yeroham plays Manuel and Victoria Fox plays Polly. Cleese himself and Connie Booth, who played Sybil in the TV series, are the writers, and the fun is directed by Caroline Jay Ranger.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to see this BBC sitcom, which became one of the greatest TV programmes of all time, on stage. FAWLTY TOWERS heads to the West End this spring, so book your tickets today to avoid disappointment.

Superb acting, wardrobe, set. A comedy with many moving parts, it recapped the 70s TV show of the same name. Even though I knew the plot and the lines of the actors, it was nonetheless riveting. I haven't laughed so much in a long time.

Absolutely phenomenal show!

This show has brought Basil Fawlty to life in the West End, the wonderful Adam Jackson-Smith plays Basil so brilliantly you forget it's not John Cleese, he is a wonderful actor as are all the cast! My 3 favourite episodes all rolled into one show ... Hotel Inspectors, Mrs Richards & The Germans, are fabulous. The theatre is very intimate so no matter where you sit you will have a great view & a great time.... go see it before it's too late.

Superb Nostalgia

I was in the studio audience for the original taping of the episode Communication Problems. I remembered vividly the scenes in particular with Mrs Richards. The Fawlty Towers stage show was awesome nostalgia, incredibly funny and just as outstanding as the original episode many many years ago. An exceptional performance by the cast.

Must see, whether you remember the TV show or not.

The show was excellent. Basil’s character was superbly portrayed. Sounded & moved like John Cleese himself apart from the leg curl on the turn of the silly walk. Mrs Richards needed more detached haughtiness and slightly less venom, perhaps. We had the misfortune to be 1 row in front of a self-styled running commentator, non-stop & clearly audible throughout both acts, predicting lines, and calling out, “No, they’re mixing them,” when TV plots were skilfully merged. Best actor for me was the spoons salesman whose performance paid perfect tribute to the late Bernard Cribbins.

The show was exactly the same as the TV series, the actors were exceptional and no different than the original ones. It was fun and a lovely night out. My only negative comment - the show is far too short (approximately 40 minutes per half). After paying the high prices for theatre tickets these days i would have expected it to last until at least 10pm, it was all over at 21.30.

Rather dated comedy

I would say that this comedy is very much old style which the present day generations wouldn't really understand it. The comedy relating to the Germans should not be included within a comedy play like this as I am sure the present day generations would find offensive and shouldn't be used in present day.

Full marks to the actors, the casting got them all off to a ‘T’. It was faultless! One is left wondering how Basil can keep this level of energy up for any length of time!
