Gerry and Sewell in London
Written and directed by Olivier Award-winner Jamie Eastlake, this play from the North East follows two young men in Gateshead, Gerry and Sewell, who are on a quest to get their hands on season tickets for the Premier League so they can watch their beloved football club, Newcastle United, play. Based on Jonathan Tulloch's novel The Season Ticket, which was adapted into the Geordie cult classic film Purely Belter, Gerry & Sewell began life as a small play in a 60-seat pub, and now it's heading to the West End for a limited two-week run, so London audiences can experience this funny, heartwarming story of friendship, loyalty, determination, and chasing your dreams.
From Laurel's pub in North Tyneside to a sell-out run at the Newcastle Theatre Royal to London's West End, the show's rise in popularity mirrors its story about two underdogs defying the odds. Blending live music and puppet dogs, Gerry & Sewell is an uplifting celebration of working-class life and a love for football. It stars Dean Logan, Jack Robertson and Becky Clayburn, all making their West End debuts, alongside Erin Mullen.
