Good Night, Oscar in London

Love your drama rich in scandal and painful emotion?Good Night Oscar is for you, starring the Tony and Emmy Award-winner Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) who reprises his Broadway smash in the UK premiere. You only have a seven week run to catch this wonderful slice of genius, so don't miss out.

About Good Night, Oscar

A mix of humour, scandal and raw vulnerability is yours to enjoy in this marvellous play. We roll back time to 1958 when the beloved US talk show host Jack Paar, star of The Tonight Show, welcomes the unpredictable Oscar Levant as an interviewee. But Oscar, a skilled pianist and Hollywood star, has been freed from a mental hospital for just four hours especially for the show, and he is about to completely lose the plot on telly.

Actor Sean Hayes debuted on Broadway as Chuck Baxter in the musical revival of Promises, Promises during 2010, a performance so good it won him a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. He played God in the comedy An Act of God between 2015 and 2016 and first portrayed Oscar Levant in 2022, a role that earned him the Tony for Best Actor in a Play. He hosted the 64th Tony Awards in 2010 and while there, was given a Primetime Emmy Award.

The Chicago season netted the play several Jeff Award nominations. The Broadway run snagged a load of nominations including Tonys, Drama Desk Awards, Drama League Awards and Outer Critics Circle awards, winning the Tony mentioned, plus a Drama Desk award for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Play and an Outer Critics Circle awards for Outstanding Lead Performer in a Broadway Play.

Good Night, Oscar cast and creatives

Sean Hayes stars as Oscar Levant. The story is written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Doug Wright and directed by Lisa Peterson.

This wonderful production treads the fine line between genius and madness. You'll watch, enthralled, as Oscar's unique style of personal chaos pans out.
