The Jungle Book in London
Starring:
Hiran Abeysekera
This Christmas, The Jungle Book is coming to the National Theatre. Anupama Chandrasekhar's (The Father and the Assassin) new play will adapt the beloved, timeless stories of Rudyard Kipling, which have been retold over and over in film, animation, and now onstage since they were first written. In this visually stunning, thrilling new stage adaptation, young Mowgli grows up in the mangroves of the Sundarbans, raised by the animals of the jungle, learning the ancient ways of the Law of the Jungle from his teachers Baloo and Bagheera. But the wrathful tiger Shere Khan has been hunting him all his life, and Mowgli must be ready to confront the dangers that threaten his family and his home.
The Jungle Book is directed by the venue's artistic director Indhu Rubasingham and Olivier Award winner Hiran Abeysekera (The Father and the Assassin) will play Mowgli. Most excitingly, the production features puppetry by Lume's Nick Barnes and Finn Caldwell, with puppets bringing to life the animals of this beloved story, like Baloo, Bagheera, Shere Khan, Kaa, and others. Recommended for ages seven and upwards, The Jungle Book will capture the magic and wonder of Kipling's original story, while exploring powerful themes of family, courage, and belonging. With dazzling puppetry, a thrilling story, and a star-studded cast, this is one the whole family can enjoy, especially if you grew up with The Jungle Book.
Book now and get ready to experience a story we all know and love with all the visual marvel and epic storytelling you could ask for.
