Full cast announced for UK premiere of JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN

The UK transfer of one of the most anticipated shows of the year obtained seven Tony Award nominations during its run on Broadway. The production has already sold out its run at the Royal Court Theatre, which plays as part of their 70th anniversary season this year.

Making its world premiere at the Studio Theatre in Washington, DC in 2022, the hit play by Kimberly Belflower made its Broadway debut in the spring of 2025, starring Sadie Sink (Romeo and Juliet, Stranger Things).

Directed by Tony Award-winner Danya Taymor (The Outsiders), John Proctor is the Villain will star Lauryn Ajufo (The Den, Swan Wharf) as Nell Shaw, Charlie Borg makes his professional debut as Lee Turner, Recee Braddock makes his professional debut as Mason Adams, Dónal Finn (Hadestown, West End) as Carter Smith, Holly Howden Gilchrist (Small Acts of Love, & NTS) as Beth Powell, Clare Hughes (Mary Page Marlowe, Old Vic) as Ivy Watkins, Miya James (Measure for Measure, RSC) as Raelynn Nix, Molly McFadden makes her professional debut as Bailey Gallagher, and Sadie Soverall (The Cherry Orchard, St Ann's Warehouse/ Donmar Warehouse) as Shelby Holcomb.

John Proctor is the Villain presents a bitingly funny and fresh take on Arthur Miller's The Crucible from the perspective of an English class who are studying the text. As they unpack the story, they begin questioning the role of John Proctor and the female voices within it.
