Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest is due to open at the Harold Pinter Theatre this summer
A revival of Oscar Wilde's comedy of manners The Importance of Being Earnest is set to arrive in the West End this summer. The production will star Sian Phillips and Nigel Havers and is directed by Lucy Bailey at the Harold Pinter Theatre.
Scheduled to open on 17 July 2014 with preview from 27 June, the show is produced by the Bunbury Company of Player and is due to embark on a UK tour starting in late September following its run in the West End.
Sian Phillips was recently in the West End staring alongside Lee Evans in Clive Exton’s comedy Barking in Essex and before that appeared in Rufus Norris’s revival of Cabaret at the Savoy Theatre. Nigel Havers is best know from his roles in ITV’s Downton Abbey and Coronation Street. Joining Phillips and Havers on stage are Martin Jarvis, Christine Kavanagh, Rosalind Ayres, Niall Buggy and Cherie Lunghi.
Director Lucy Bailey has recently had huge success with her production of Fortune’s Fool at the Old Vic and her award-winning revival of Uncle Vanya at the Print Room. William Dudley will design the production.
The Importance of Being Earnest opens at the Harold Pinter theatre on 17 July 2014.
