ONCE ON THIS ISLAND full cast and creatives announced

The full team has been announced for the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre production, which opens this summer and runs between 10 May to 10 June.

They will join the previously announced Gabrielle Brooks (Get Up Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical, ) as Ti Moune and Stephenson Ardern-Sodje (Hamilton) as Daniel.

The newly announced cast are:

  • Courtney-Mae Briggs (Back to the Future The Musical) as Andrea
  • Jonathon Grant (Glee) as Armand + US Agwe
  • Emilie Louise Israel (Hamilton) as Erzulie
  • Chris Jarman (Wicked The Musical) as Tonton
  • Anelisa Lamola (The Color Purple) as Asaka
  • Natasha Magigi (To Kill a Mockingbird) as Mama Euralie
  • Ashley Samuels (Oklahoma!) as Agwe
  • Lejaun Sheppard (Come from Away) as Papa Ge

Further cast includes Bernadette Bangura, Hanna Dimtsu, Nay-Nay, Cassandra Lee, Cherece Richards, Mikel Sylvanus and Marco Titus. The role of Young Ti Moune is shared by Janai Bartlett, Lexi Kowlessar, Nesisa Mhindu, Kirsten Muzvuru, Nielle Springer and Olivia St Louis.

Directed by Ola Ince, Once On This Island is based on the novel, My Love, My Love, by Rosa Guy. It follows the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl, and Daniel, whose love story is forbidden. Set in the heat of the Caribbean sun, and as tropical storms destroy the environment around them, Ti Moune must settle the wager of the Gods and prove the power of love.

The original West End production of Once On This Island had huge success, winning Best New Musical at the Olivier Awards in 1995. Its Broadway revival then won the Tony Award for Best Musical Revival in 2018.

Other productions in the Regent's Park Open Air 2023 season include: Every Leaf A Hallelujah (22 May - 10 June), Robin Hood: The Legend.
