A brand-new stage adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby is rumoured to be heading to the West End, led by Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page in his first London stage performance since 2015.

According to an article in Deadline by Baz Bamigboye, this new production is written by Joel Horwood and Maria Aberg. Michael Longhurst, known for his work on the recent UK premiere of the Pulitzer-winning musical Next to Normal, is set to direct. Performances are rumoured to begin in autumn, with further details still to be confirmed.
Regé-Jean Page was last seen in The Merchant of Venice at Shakespeare's Globe in 2015. He is known for starring in Bridgerton and Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.
“The Great Gatsby has always been a story incredibly close to my heart, and I couldn’t be more excited about bringing this new adaptation to life in London’s West End,” Page wrote, in an exclusive statement for Deadline.
He called the new version “electric, glamorous, deeply romantic, utterly heartbreaking, and its profound insight into the past couldn’t be more relevant to our current tumultuous 2020s.”
The Great Gatsby is centered on Jay Gatsby, a wealthy and mysterious man who throws lavish parties at his property in the hope of reconnecting with his lost love, Daisy Buchanan. It's a powerful story about love, wealth, social class and the American Dream in 1920s America.
There have been several stage adaptations of The Great Gatsby over the years, the most notable being a musical that debuted on Broadway in 2023 and is still playing at the Broadway Theatre. London audiences saw a West End production of the same musical last summer at the London Coliseum, featuring musical theatre favourites such as Amber Davies, Jamie Muscato, Frances Mayli McCann, and Joel Montague.
We will keep you informed as more information is released.
